I have interest in buying some of these for multi species trapping ( coyote, fox & coon). My question is can I get the pan tension down to 2.5 to 3 lbs. and how do you do it. I recently watched a you tube video and the person said they come with a 5# pan tension or greater. He also said something about using bow string wax on the trigger to lighten it up. I would like something more consistent than that. Does anyone have any suggestions before I commit to buying? Thanks, grif.

It depends on how many springs you have on it. One way to do it could be to file the point the pan hits the jaw making it angled instead of flat.

Grif, I have some jrs. I got after the season closed so I have no experience with them but will say IMO that the jrs. are NOT need for coons. Way over kill! And probably the same for fox. These are very stout traps.
If your running a multi-critter line MB 450 or 550 might be an option for you.

Thanks to Yukanal I got my 4 coiled KO juniors to 1.50 with a floppy pan by filing the pan notch at an angle. Go easy and test as you go, you can file it off but ya can't put it back.. Iv'e caught all 3 without issues with the Juniors but if you have more fox/coon than yotes IMO the 550 is a better option. The 450 will work better for coon/fox but you'll be handicaped with yotes. The will hold yotes fine but the smaller trap has to be placed spot on to avoid misses.

Trapperbus, just wondering why you would spend big $$ for Jrs. only to make them into 1.5 traps?

That's 1.5 pounds of pan tension, not 1.50 size trap. I can tighten the tension screw to get up to 5 pounds if needed..

I ran KO Jrs almost exclusively last season. I just get the pan bolt tightened to where the pan does not flop, but moves easy and then wax them. The pan tension is about 2 pounds and works great for me. I do not file anything. They come pretty decent from Kendal and I dont need to change the night latch he already has set up. The only modification I did was to replace the base crunch proof swivel with a JC Connor rod swivel. Kendal now makes them as an option. All of mine are offset outside laminated and 2 coiled, but I do run some 4 coiled later in the season. Good for fox, yote, cats and raccoons.
