The message is sent it seems! If you're surprised by this, you haven't been paying attention to our politics for the last few years. Intense agitation from one side of the ideological aisle begets a backlash from the other -- with Americans throwing money at dueling causes, out of both fear and pure spite. With anti-NRA demagoguery dialed up to eleven after the Parkland shooting, anti-gun activists have succeeded in eroding the public's views of the organization. But they've also helped recruit legions of new NRA members and donors. Some of these new supporters have signed up out of Second Amendment solidarity, while others have likely found the group's 'culture war' messaging alluring (I personally find it needlessly partisan and borderline-apocalyptic). So even if the National Rifle Association currently finds itself in a position of diminished overall popularity, and as more of a touchstone for hyper-partisanship than ever before, scores of ordinary Americans are voting with their pocketbooks to send financial reinforcements to the embattled guns rights group: WASHINGTON As the student-led March for Our Lives movement captured the nation's attention in the weeks after the Parkland shooting, the other side of the gun control debate enjoyed a banner month of its own. The National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund raised $2.4 million from March 1 to March 31, the group's first full month of political fundraising since the nation's deadliest high school shooting on Valentine's Day, according to filings submitted to the Federal Elections Commission. The total is $1.5 million more than the organization raised during the same time period in 2017, when it took in $884,000 in donations, and $1.6 million more than it raised in February 2018. The $2.4 million haul is the most money raised by the NRA's political arm in one month since June 2003, the last month when electronic federal records were readily available. It surpasses the $1.1 million and $1.5 million raised in January and February 2013, the two months after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

some of that money was given by me and my wife. I do love when the "media" wants to wage a campaign on the 2nd, all they do is sell more guns and ammo than EVER and make the ranks of the NRA swell. Just like when the media all said hillary would be elected, suddenly they realized they didnt know as much as they thought.

So is this profiting off someone elses misfortunes? A action to reaction that nobody ever wanted to happen that was fueled by emotions you might want to stick with doing nothing your better at it!

What's protecting your gun rights worth? I think $125 for 5 years is a deal for keeping my guns no better offer out there that I know of.

Just being a NRA is not enough. The people that pull there support from the NRA, let them know you will not support them. Use your email to contact your elected officials. IF you write over 4 lines you are righting to much. Just let them know how you feel about an issue. Be sure you start off by letting them know that you do not like there view etc. Some people write so much they FORGET to tell them that you do not share there views, and will not support there views. If so, very well written! I agree with the NRA being borderline apocalyptic. I really want to support the NRA ,but when I've been a member in the past, the sickening rhetoric they incessantly dump in my mailbox turned me off to the point I couldn't stand to hear from them any more. I get so sick of them insulting my intelligence and trying to foment an emotional response from me. But the current state of affairs seems to be such that the battle lines have been drawn and I may have to join the ranks of the turds in the NRA again. I need to get off my butt and join the NRA AND the Second Amendment Foundation. I'll just have to hope the constant cry-baby blather, propaganda, and begging for more money doesn't put me off to the point I can't stand to be a member any more.

I protect my gun rights by keeping plenty of ammo, brass, bullets, primers, and powder on hand. I belong to USSA and I vote. Politicians fear me and the tens of millions of free people like me.

I think more people , sportsmen , hunters ,shot gunners , the people who in the past could not see that they were not part of us the armed are starting to realize that just because their rifle only holds 5 rounds or their shotgun 5 rounds that they are in the sights of the Antis also , they used to be willing to give up someone else's , capacity or feature but they can finally see that it is going to hurt them also.
ask an Anti if they think a gun that can fire a round with each pull of the trigger that has a threaded muzzle should be banned. bet you get a heck yes
but I just described every over under with a single trigger and choke tubes. not to mention every semi auto with a choke tube.
