I'm not so sure having them not teaching and kids having to think for themselves for a bit is a bad thing.

Let'em strike.

The question is will paying teachers more benefit the students ?

I know some will answer yes

How many inner city kids go to that catholic school?

Any busing?

Many special needs kids?

Is it self-sustaining or subsidized by the church?

Prisons cost more because theyre country clubs rather than punishment facilities. Did you know solitary confinement has been banned because prisoners complained? In NE, at least.

Catholics are spread throughout the county so kids come from in town as well as having to ride the bus. There is tuition and fund raisers for the school but the public school has numerous fund raisers also. Being there are less church goers every year the church does not have much to give. No special needs kids that I know of.

I guess she could be saying since Oklahoma pays so little for teachers this is how you ended up with me?

Anything subsidized, ya get more of. Criminals included. No class of people escape that fact.

In that case you'd think we'd be overrun with farmers.

This is most likely very true, but if like Oklahoma, private teacher pay in OK is 1/2-2/3 of a public school teacher, and no benefits other than some retirement of some kind of the teacher's choice. So they are able to run on a much smaller budget with greater results. But!!! The teacher knows the salary(just as a public school teacher) when they sign the contract, and the perks of that private environment are worth it.

Catholic school here also has no super. which saves some dough. My grandkids are very bright and it seems the teachers do good job, but maybe it's just genetics, and I'm not biased, just ask me.

So you fellows who went through this consolidation to save money business, I would be interested to know how much they cut your property taxes with all this saved money? Thanks!

Cut taxes!!!!! Now that's funny stuff right there.

Probably raised taxes to add onto the school to accomadate more kids.

And I bet the administration got raises due to more kids. It's why they push for it so hard. Teachers salaries probably stayed the same.
