Teachers are liberal Dem and they gave us Obama when you couldn't buy any 22 ammo. A gal I grew up with is a teacher and we have always been friends. During campaigns, she posted on FB that "just hating Trump isn't enough" I said "and you're teaching our children?" I'm not her friend anymore.

Well I hope I don't say anything about the military, next thing you know I'll have to go to Syria for speaking out. One final note, the US spends more money on education than any country in the world yet our students are not anywhere near the top. How is that possible. Last I checked we were 3rd in per-student spending... Which is close enough to the top to validate your point. 3rd in spending, 24th or 28th in test scores I think. 3rd in per-student spending, yet way down on teacher slaries as well as test scores. I think Aaron Proffitt was right. We throw lots of money at "education"... But is it being spent in a way that benefits the kids? Mike Maybe the problem is WHAT the money is being spent on. Sports facilities count toward the spending. In foreign countries the don't worship the Friday night lights like they do in "some " states.

Since more taxes is the answer to everything, I imagine eventually farmers won't be able to stay above water farming, and big corporations will own the farmland and use it as a business loss to offset profits somewhere else. Or something like that. Crete, NE built a new school and some of the better farmland in the district has over $100/acre in property tax now. Charging stations for cellphones is one of the features requested by students, and they got them. Very necessary for an eduction. I don't know if they asked the children what gun laws should be introduced.

We have at least one school district who has suspended classes indefinitely and has notified parents that their kids may have to finish the school year in a different school.
It’s for the kids .
This week is State testing week . Those tests will have to be made up.
It’s for the kids.
I saw a school owned party wagon full of gleeful teachers headed to OKC today on I44 . You’d thought they were headed to Fort Lauderdale. But it’s for the kids .
Some of our State law makers have received death threats. Because someone is so passionate about the kids. I want to address the "testing " issue. My wife proctored theses "test" for as long as they have given them. The test are useless. !!! WHY you may ask. In olden days you had to pass a test to go to the next grade. NOW the test have no names. The students have NO reason to try to perform well. TONS of students just go down the test marking the same slot for each question. NO ACCOUNTABILITY equals NO effort in todays society.. Stop building sports facilities for a small percent of the students !!!!!! But the teachers have junkie school materials........

I think Obama won because of the black voters. Some of them that had been dead for years came back just to see history LOL.

The US Fed Govt needs 15 yrs of tax revenue TODAY just to get back to being flat broke..... A good start would be scaling back politicians salaries and pensions. Get them back to reality and a taste of the real world.

Term limits for all politicians, they won't need pensions or the other perks. Two terms and done. Amen

A couple of years ago , there was a move to consolidate a lot of smaller rural districts . The biggest opponent ? The teachers. Kinda leaves one scratching their head. Think about what all consolidating schools involves. Without much thought, off the top of my head here's a few of the big ones ... 1 -Busing students further. A kid that lives blocks from his school bused 30-45 min one way every day. Means parents have to get them ready earlier, takes an hour to hour and a half out of their schedule a day. 2 -Larger class sizes. Less individual time and less learning opportunity for the students. 3 -Teachers fired. (gee, wonder why they don't support that!) Fewer classrooms means fewer teachers needed. 4 -More kids = more competition. Meaning its going to be tougher to get into any extracurricular activities. Which build kids mentally and physically. I'm sure when my wife gets home from teaching (20+ years) in a small district, tonight, she could add exponentially to the list.
