Video games, texting, and the great outdoors; Now that, right there, is what it's all about........ Yes it is! There are a lot of Dads out there that would love to have their 20yr old daughter counting down the minutes until me and her can crawl up a tree with the cross bow and spend some time together. The memories of the family time together in the woods outlive any text messages she may have sent or received. that right there who don't want to see that ? good stuff keep it up.

nice pictures.
Here's my elitists rant:
I'm a deer hunter and don't guess I'll ever understand antler hunters. Deer are food and need killed in numbers so populations stay healthy. I don't kill deer with a weapon. I use tools. Different types of firearms depending on my mood.
I have some weapons and practice with them regularly. They are also firearms whose purpose is to defend my family my property or myself.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Yea, 8 pages, who'd have tought. It's hard to amagine someone would worry about "little Jr." killing a deer. Can you amagine?
Some, it appears, would sooner have "little Jr." play video games so they can shoot "their" deer.
Know anyone like that? It's a fine weapon for little junior. And it's funny you mention videos games. Every guy I know who takes a little kid hunting tells me they let their kid play games on their phone to kill the time while waiting to kill a deer. I think the kid misses too much of what hunting is all about if he thinks of it as simply video games 'til a target shows up..... To each his own. Point of order. I'm a game playing fool on stand . It's also where I used to do my homework when I was a kid . And my bow requires me drawing it to shoot it. No trigger involved.

How come nobody ever wants to just say that crossbows are popular cause they’re an easy way to hunt during archery season ? Just say it .

The only difference between a modern compound bow and a crossbow is; one has to be drawn and held at full draw, the other doesn't.
I only hunt with a crossbow so I don't know how much of an advantage that is.
Eh...wot?

I forgot to add........I don't give a rip what ya kill your deer with.
What are the reasons guys don't like them, other than it takes some of their prestige away when they say they shot a deer with a bow?

You still have to raise your weapon and hold on target without detection while in close proxcimity to game.
With the huge let-off on today’s compounds is it really that big of a deal?
And so what if it is somewhat more challenging? Who cares other than the elite, alpha type archers?
Eh...wot?

I don’t entirely disagree with the comparison to modern bows and crossbows.
I don’t know . This whole thing seems off , like something has been lost. Deer archery kills have become just another participation trophy instead the enormous accomplishment it used to be. “ Just hold this and squeeze the trigger.”

That's what i said, the prestige. How does what someone else uses, effect what your doing? It doesn’t until legislatures figure archery seasons are no longer relevant due to equipment advances.
