I have one, it’s the larger one 12’? It was given to me by a friend. It works ok, I have not put a motor on it. As with any canoe you probably don’t really want to stand up in it. I camo painted it. I didn’t find it any better than the 3 other canoes I have. 15’ Coleman, 13’ aluminum Grumman, 13’ Old Town. That’s about all I can tell you about it.

I own several G-Hawks. Very stable, tough, light weight. Great for solo trapping IF AND ONLY IF you don't have far to paddle. They are complete dogs to paddle.

If I remember correctly the original Golden Hawks were made by a trapper for trappers, then sales took off. I have a friend that has one, traps beaver on the Grand River. Puts in up stream and floats down to a take out point. I've seen photos of it full of beavers with him seating on top of the load and the water pretty close to the rim. He's small frame man and it fits him well. I don't know what it would be like for a large man. I'll keep my 13 foot garage sale special.

I had one and was not impressed. High sides made it hard to paddle in the wind. Every time the dog or my wife moved I felt like we were going over. Ended up selling it the same summer I bought it. Got me a Sportspal canoe and will never look back. Stable and low profile makes it comfortable but it can still haul a load.
