A friend found these tracks near her property. Lives in N/W Wisconsin area. Anybody know if these are domestic dog or wolf?

Very possible wolf from the length of the track. If general over that 31/2 to 4 plus inch long paw it is a wolf. The again it could be a large dog the size is at the top end for a domestic dog. It most likely a back paw print from the first picture.

I would say non domestic also. I might be wrong but a larger domestic dog would look wider across the toes.?.

The pattern would be more definitive than the track

How many tracks did you find in the general area? Was there any indication of more then one animal?

If the only evidence is a photo of a single track, the only answer is large canine.

Check out its path. If it appeared to wander all over aimlessly, it may be more likely to be a dog.
NW Wi though...very well could be wolf.

I wish I knew of a good class a person could take regarding track ID of Wi furbearers. It's much more complicated than just looking at that WDNR printout called 'Mammal Tracks on Wi.'

One single track leads to a WAG at best.

The track is long and narrow....generally a wild canine.

Domestics are generally about as wide as they are long. Much closer to round than the one pictured.

I'd go with domestic. Claws seem much too long for a wild dog. Always being on the move typically keeps wild claws pretty worn.
