Jacks OP trapper J Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 983 Bemidji, MN	I am wanting to start building up preference points in some states for elk and deer hunting. I think I missed most of them. I was going to apply for Colorado but can’t hunt this year but was going to apply for points to build up so i can get a good draw . Where is a good unit to apply for?

Colorado is due midnight on the 3rd of April. Arizona, New Mexico and Utah is done for the year. Wyoming draw is over but you can still buy points until September. Not sure how serious you are but Nevada is still possible but will cost you about $150 for the license to be able to even try for a hunt / point. Life member, NRA, NTA, RMEF, Pheasants Forever. Keef trapper K Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 101 Missouri	This is not an answer to your question because I haven't hunted Colorado in years. Too many hunters. Chances of a trophy are slim. I used to live near Durango and the elk herd was pretty good, but the mountains were covered by hunters. If you want a trophy apply in Nevada, Arizona and Utah. It will take some time and money to get a tag but it's worth it. I got a nice bull last year in Nevada in archery season and killed a 340 bull in AZ some years before that.
