They range naturally up the Mississippi River to the Mo Boot heel region, but do well as a planting throughout the state. I have some I planted here in St. Louis Co from a conservation tree package that are doing great and are making knees as well. They are a Deciduous Conifer, meaning they shed their "Leaves" in the fall, hence their name "Bald Cypress". Skiff's and Perouques are made from the wood as it's extremely rot resistant.

None here in MI. They are on the campus of MSU and planted occasionally as an ornamental. It is outside their native range though...But they will grow there.

Bald Cypress all over the W. Tennessee, W. Kentucky, S.E. Missouri, S. Illinois area....Have one below the house in a creek, with knees, that turns a beautiful red/ burnt orange in the fall.

I planted one and it is now about 15 feet tall. My local bucks shred it every year. Somehow it made it past them and is now filling out nicely. I am in north west Ohio about a hour south of MI.
