Robert,

I Hunt Exclusively With A Circa 1970 Era REM 870 Wingmaster with a 30" Full Choke Ventilated Rib Barrel.

The Only Thing It Is Chambered For & Will Shoot Is 2 3/4" Shells.

My Gun Loves The Winchester Super-X Turkey Load In A 1 1/2 Ounce Load Of #5 Shot.

It Puts Them Down Nicely at 30 To 40 Yards.

The Muzzle Velocity Of That Load Is 1,260 Feet Per Second.

Check That Velocity Against Any 3" Regular Lead Load And You'll Be Suprised.

2 3/4" Inch Shells Will Work Just Fine For Turkey, Just Shoot Them Within A Reasonable Range.

I have a buddy who shoots 2 3/4" #4's out of his and he's never had a problem. He limits his shot distance to about 20 yards though.

You any good with a slingshot? Got a dozen just outside my bathroom window right now. The toms are strutting and gobbling. grin

It wouldn't be much of a hunt, but more of an assassination. laugh

I have had great luck with Winchester Supreme HV #5 and Winchester Long Beards #5 in the 2 3/4 in a Winchester 1300.

Use to kill them with plane old low brass trap shooting loads as a kid when turkey loads were to expensive and never had a problem. I think any high brass would work fine. I prefer the range of the 3 1/2" loads though
