I once visited a distillery. They were fermenting apples for brandy. The fermentation was so active that the foam and CO2 layer was heavy that no cover was even needed.

I have experienced the same on a couple batches where I added juice over the top of the lees from the previous batch.

You're fine. It will calm down in a few days.
