I am having trouble with my toyota and hope to be able to fix it myself but can't find out the issue. The transmission becomes very hard to shift and the clutch peddle stays on the floor when I lift the peddle all seems to be OK until it happens again has anyone have some suggestion on what might be the problem?

Agree is either slave or master cylinder. Usually when the slave goes it will leak brake fluid. I have found another problem it could be as well. Seems mostly happens with the 6 cylinder. A plate up under the dash against the firewall will split over time. When you replace the slave cylinder don't forget the red locktite.

Before replacing, check fluid in reservoir. May just need adjusting or filling. Make sure the linkage hasn't come loose not allowing to properly engage. As stated earlier very easy to change. I had to change one out one time because you had to press way in to get to engage. Ended up just needing adjusting.

Had another episode with the 93 we have. A bolt came out of the slave cylinder which allowed it to turn a bit. The pedal acted spongy and eventually went to the floor and stayed there. When that happened it would no longer disengage the clutch. Result was the piston in the slave cylinder over extended and bound up so wouldn't return. Brake fluid started running out as well. Red locktite is your friend with Toyota as well as Harley Davidson.

Just put a slave cylinder in mine same symptoms as you have, I let it go and it got to the point I would have to pump it and it would sound like a air pressure relief. Cheap and easy fix
