I haven't used them but here they are in comparison to the others on the market. I can tell you they are made from a thinner gage than the others in the picture

So those that use the stakes shown In the picture. Do you think that those little roll overs on the stake ends help them hold better Or not hold better.

The ones I make are sharp and pointy at the ends. I feel that when you pull to set they have a better chance to dig In no matter which way you pull.

Beav,

My thought was that those little roll overs aren't designed to help hold better but to help when you set the stake. Helps flip it to the horizontal position when pulling on the cable.

I have, bought a bunch of them and still have quite a few new ones. I reuse as many times as possible. They require a bit of straightening if they hit a rock but they hold well. As far as the turn on the end I would say it has to make them turn faster.

Wish I had more time to trap....

They are proudly made in the U.S.A. Thousands sold. No problem holding the largest coyote, they have a very large surface area.

Beav, when I drove mine in when the ground was frozen they just followed the driver hole back out. They would have held a coyote and did, but they didn't want to cam over with the ground froze. You might be right about the "slick" bend not wanting to grab.

I have used all the brands pictured and the neat thing is usually you can straighten them all out and reuse after pulling. They are all a good buy in my opinion for the american trapper.

Sure beats the guts out of lugging around a ton of rebar that's for sure.

I have had very good results with them. All have held critters as desired. Most I have pulled and reused successfully many times. Some have needed to be pounded a bit. Others I have snipped off and left where planted. If you order them with cable installed, the cable is heavy duty. I have a new bundle of them ready for use. Give them a try.

Never though Of It In those terms.

I use them for just about all my fall trapping. But when it comes to frozen ground I'm back to using 1/2" smooth rod.

I was making those type of earth anchors 20 some years ago just never thought of marketing them. They are a knock off of the old Butera spade stakes. I think they were the first disposables offered to the land trapper.
