I have wanted to catch a wolf since i started trapping, 40+ years ago. I seem to be no closer now but want to be prepared! I have used MJ500/600's and they are works of coyote killin art, so i had to get one of these Sterling monsters...just in case! i have this one too...

A shoulder caught coon will not struggle much in that particular cast-jawed model.

I have a couple of those out there right now waiting for el lobo to step on them, as well as AK #9's, LPC 8's, MB750's and Newhouse 4's.

I'm no expert but my personal observations are that the LPC traps are probably the toughest of them. I also really like the Alaskan #9 it's really well built but I did have a lion bend one up pretty good one time. A few whacks with a hammer got it working again though. And surprisingly to me the least expensive of the lot (by far), the MB750 Wolf Trap has taken a couple severe beatings and came out unscathed. The Sterling MJ 800 seems like it's heck for stout but I have yet to connect with anything that could test it. White17 told me once he hates them, something about throwing them in the river,,,. One thing is for sure, all wolf sized traps are super cool to play with. I have several Newhouse wolf traps that I would love to catch a wolf with but I have a hard time putting them in the dirt.
