So I decided yesterday to try and multi task in the fur shed. While putting up some furs I thought I would start boiling some skulls for one of my daughters. Everything went according to plan. Then, today I hit a snag. My dad thought he would help me out and start up the propane boiling pot, he did a great job of lighting the flame and went to the house for lunch. I arrive at the farm about an hour later and open the garage door and WHAM what the heck that smell and smoke. Well here is were I beg for help if there is any?

My fur has soot all over it, I tried a wet rag, I tried dry borax is there anything that I can do to clean them up or am I stuck. They all did at one time look like the one on the right in the pic with four cats in it.

I’d borax bathe them and see where that gets you.

Find someone with a fur tumbler or as said rub borax in and shake it out then brush. Should be fine.

Id try dry cleaning fluid. Tetrawhateveryoucallit. Wear rubber gloves and do it outside or with a fan on you. Will remove all the natural oil also. When done LIGHTLY spray and brush some mineral oil on them. Remember the lightly part. Use a cheap hair brush. Keep brushing to spread it good.

It is soot but also mixed with grease I am guessing had the same thing happen if it really stinks that is called a protein fire. Dawn dish soap and oxy clean will take it off but the stink stays for a long time need to air it out and an ozone machine can help they can be rented if your in a bigger town. Good luck
