Trapping around cows is a pain. Do not let them see you make the set. If they see you put it in, they will come over as soon as you leave to see what you were doing. I've read on here that people use post hole sets around them, but the ground around here is to hard for me to use them as it takes to much time to dig a hole deep enough.

Cows and traps don't go together.

I try to find some place they can't get to or just don't want to go - which aint easy!
I make blockades out of dead tee branches or tree trunks - big ones - and set around those.
It's just a pain anyway you look at it.

In big pastures, where they get caked and hayed, is where they tend to stay in the winter. You can set away from there and sets wont get stepped on near so much. Small pastures with a lot of cattle your going to have trouble. Don't hang snares at all.

Cattle live there, you are visiting...

They think cubes and feed fall out of people's rear end, and they are always looking to be fed...

Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,

The first coyote I ever caught was in a cow pasture, I set there to avoid getting my traps plowed under.

There was a circle of about 20 cows completely around the coyote, he looked scared!

As mentioned, don't let them see you make the sets AND don't use any urine, either. If the cows don't go after the salt in the urine, deer will. You'll have snapped traps, constantly.

in a couple places ive tried trapping around cows eventually they will lose interest and leave them alone...took a week or two and never set where they frequent. you may get away with setting a back side somewhere they dont go around...but if you try setting near the feed or water, your traps wont stay set until dark...ever.

at this point unless the owner really wants it trapped badly i will see if they can shut off a pasture for me to trap and i will trap where the cows are NOT. Just not worth it if i can catch them somewhere else.
