What glands are worth saving on a wolverine? Why don't many lure makers offer wolverine lures? Are they not effective? Do other products work just as good? Limited supply of glands?

About all I ever use is marten magic or gusto, sometimes a castor lure if i have it. They do have glands like any other in the weasel family but I've never messed with them.

do unto others as you would have them do unto you

I collected the glands for a while. Never could tell that it was using them that worked or not. Quit going through the motions.
I remember Gulo Boy saying in a post years ago the best thing for catching wolverine is what worked that time...

Now, if I could find one of those rubbing trees the wolverine use I could see value in collecting glands and using them on the line.

Some lures work better than others, we have one that is outstanding that we use. Anything with Castor in it works well though.

Wolverine have the same 2 glands on either side of the anus that all weasels have. Kinda big and pretty stinky. I used to save them but hadn't really used them much. One time we had a wolverine step in a leghold but not get caught. It fired but just scared him. He squirted that brownish fluid out when he jumped back. You could see it in the snow. After that I figured the stuff was used as a fear response and maybe not much use as a lure.
Bait draws them in as good as anything seems like!!

Sounds like castor and bait are better options. I just use bait and that has worked. I was just curious if there was much of a market.

From what you guys are saying it is mostly not worth the stink.

I would agree with that. Not worth it, for me.

I think really stinky bait is great but I have seen lure turn them towards the set from quite a distance

I see them sniffing trees that I haven’t put lure on in years.
