All of my 4 coil extreme's & Jrs fire at 3 poundsish, its not much tweaking at all, and a swipe of wax. what tweaking are you doing that lowers pan tension?

You wax and you can adjust the pan bolt - tighten or loosen to your liking

Easy to set. I’m not a big guy but I’ve never had trouble setting any traps with my hands.

I file the pan latch a bit so there is less surface engagement, and loosen the pan bolt to a slow free fall. Then use chunks of the Hobby Lobby wax wiped on the jaw latch before setting also. This has worked out great for me. Last season I had to rethink my whole bedding system with these, because if you push down on the jaws to hard (as I was used to) you will end up with your fingers wrapped up!

Thanks for the tips! I loosened the pan bolt on one of the Extremes, but all it did was give me side/side slop. It never came close to free falling (didn't do anything for the pan tension). I will admit, I haven't filed the pan latch though.

I have both extremes and the 1 !/2 dj. If you look at the very first photo it looks like the jaw is off in some way.

It looks bent in the first photo I see what you mean. It looks funny. Brad

It looks bent in the first photo I see what you’re saying. I thought so too. It’s just the angle at which the photo was taken. The second photo is of the same trap. It’s straight as they come.

Both are great traps, but for me the Junior just seems to fit my style better than the extreme. I run all 4 coiled but may run 2 on the Juniors just to see if I can get the pan tension below 3. Caught lots of K9s last 2 seasons no losses no issues. Both fox and yotes. Love the way they bed and really like the dog less setup. If the paw steps inside the jaws there yours..
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..

I would not get the inside laminated jaws if you don’t need them. Just outside laminate . I have both and the inside is a waste of money That’s just my opinion .

Does anyone have a picture of the junior beside a #2 Bridger?
