I spent / spend lots of time in the 12x12 Alaknak in everything from mild temps in pouring rain to below zero hunts in knee deep snow. Can't say enough good about these tents. We run a pretty fair size stove and keep it well fed. Never used rain fly or spark arrestor but we take a huge tarp and run it over the top and past the edges down to the ground. Kinda encapsulates the thing. Run the tarp long out the front and tie it off making a covered porch. Then cut a little hole out for the stove pipe and let it melt to the size it wants to be. Works awesome! Sparks don't make it past tarp and never burn tent. Literally spent weeks in them and love em. Sweet little mountain hooch!

That's been my experience.

Hang a small bucket with an allnight candle from the ceiling, no more condensation.

Well i ended up ordering the 12x20 Alaknak tent.Figured we'd need the extra room with three kids and a dog.Ordered the Vestibule too.Picking it up in a couple days.Looking forward to doing some camping with it.

I think you'll like it. You can go set up a camp in places with a tent you cant even dream of with a camper. A good tent makes it a comfort and a sorry one makes you miserable.

The group of guys I archery hunt out of state with brought a tent from Reliable Tent out of Billings Montana .We got the Glacier model .If you are setting up near your parking area this is what we do for heat. We purchased a vent less wall heater and had it set up to operate on propane .We attach a 30 lb bottle which generally last for 5 to 7 days .We only run the heater while at camp .The heater has a thermostat so you can regulate how warm it is in the tent .Also to help with condensation we would put down a tarp and spread a bale of straw on it .Than put a heavier tarp on top and than the tent floor on top of that . It sounds like a lot of work but is was quick to do and really helped with heating and it cushioned the floor at the same time. We have cots to sleep on also. Off course if you are packing into an area than all the extra weight is not practical. Prior to getting the tent we used a pop up camper. The tent is a 100% improvement over the pop up .

I think we'll like it.Gonna try it out camping on Chincoteague Island this weekend. If read that propane builds quite a bit of condensation in these but woodstove heat doesnt. No experience with that yet.But I plan to get a small woodstove for it before fall. And yes,I sleep on a cot too.My back doesn't do well sleeping on the ground.
