I have problems with groundhogs on my farm. I don't want to spend hours sitting and trying to shoot them and was thinking of trapping them. What do you guys recommend for trapping? Live cages, snares, foot traps?

What do you recommend for bait?

I tried the search engine but couldn't find anything although I'm sure this has been discussed before.

Thanks.

On a farm I'd go with a two door trap or single posi set over the entry/exit points and that shouldn't require bait. But if you feel the need for bait or lure, I'd go with something sweet and hang it directly over or placed under the treadle. Simplicity when it comes to critters. Or...a little smear on the treadle and they'll lick that baby clean off and put a shine to it. imo,jmo,imho,jm2c

No reason to go bigger than a 110, I've caught many that you would swear wouldn't fit through but they do. 160 would be fine to, I wouldn't set a 220 personally, but would get the job done. Make sure you stake them, sometimes they make it down the hole or something will try to pack them off. Allow room for the jaws to close (set them a few inches away from the hole).
