They don't cost a lot, I bet some Farmers have some used ones, I thought about making a blade drill bit for frozen ground, figured a sicle blade would maybe work

Soft muddy ground is harder to do, 1/8" cable is stiff enough to help the anchor to not come back up with the driver

I make my driver the same way. But instead of an angled piece of pipe on the end I weld a big nut on it. I was having trouble with the 2 angles wedging together after driving them in.

1/2" pipe with chain is probably the best and most versatile. Chain can be long for soft ground and still not stick up like cable when anchor is not driven to maximum depth. Soil conditions and how they will be pulled dictate structural requirements.

Should I weld a bolt for the cable or chain or bend a pice of round stock in to a u shape and weld it on for cable or chain.

Take a 5/16 nut, stand it up on center of shortest part of pipe, weld in place.
Run cable through hole and double ferrule it

Black steel pipe1/2" Id I use a chop saw to get the 45° angle
I buy 7/16 bearing rod, weld a part of steel pipe on about 4" from end, I weld two rods on to the main driving rod half way from top to end, to reinforce main shaft, weld a 6-8 " handle right beside the top of driver

Make them out of free stuff or you might as well buy super stake ends. I buy the components and build them myself and can make them at a fraction of the normal sale price. Buy bigger quantity and you will sVe more per piece. If you have any friends who trap you can get them to go in with you. I have made many different anchors myself but the cast ends are much nicer. When you drive a pipe with no end the driver will stick in it and want to pull the anchor up. I M just passing on my experience. I would never say it won't work because it does. Just not as well in my opinion.

Wish I had more time to trap....
