Hey guys, I have a location that has been trapped for years now and I'm new to this location. I'm sure these yotes have seen and smelled everything over the years. I have a trail maybe 10 ft wide or so and tracks on the trail I have a dirt hole with bait and urine on the left side of the trail and they walk right by. Do you think I should run flat sets with minimal scent Any help appreciated thanks guys

Blind sets.

Put sets on both sides and give it time. If the traps won’t get run over, you could also set right in the middle of the trail.

Here is a good example of a blind set on a logging road or in your case a 10' wide trail. Very subtle blocking, small stepping sticks.

I have caught a lot of coyotes on that road in blind sets over the years including 2 this year. Blinds set work!

I was thinking blind sets or very subtle flat sets just something to get away from the dirt hole sets.

Now with your blind set you just use a couple sticks and small backing to guide em in no event at all

It's breeding season.I wouldn't focus on bait as much as gland lure and urine.I agree with the use of blind sets whenever possible and set up for doubles.

If I knew they were walking by my set, i'd blind set right where the avoiding tracks are, leave the current bait set alone as a mental distraction as they pass by. No disturbance if possible.

I always hear people on here saying make no disturbance. How do you do that when you have snow in an area they travel? I always try my best to come in from a blind spot but not always possible to get to best set location.

I had tracks going down both sides of the road and I had trail cam pics of a few and every pic was on the left side against the creek. So I believe I'll blind set that left side and leave my scented set an see if they hit thanks guys good luck!

Here is another coyote caught this morning in a blind set. I set the trap 2 days ago just before the snow. This is the 3rd one this year on this particular logging road. I have lost track how many I have caught in blind sets on this road over the years. Its the same road as the big coyote in a previous post. Blinds set can be extremely productive. Check out his tracks as he came down the road last night.

Still have 40 sets out to protect the deer, 20 scent posts and 20 blind sets. They walked by the scent posts but got one in a blind set. When the moon gets darker the scent posts will get hit. Don't ever discount the blind set for canines. I use my tire tracks to hide my tracks or a broom to age em.

X2 on blind sets. Also, I would check for places where coyote shortcut road curves, probably making narrower trails.
