Any of you in Michigan near the meteorite ? Saw it on the news. Looked just like one we had here back in the 90s. A local guy knew all about them, so he went out and collected as much as he could find. I won't post on here how much he was paid for the stuff because no one will believe it, but it was a lot! Im sure the story in online somewhere....anyway if you're close go looking!!

The discovery channell had a show about that a few year's back called Meteorite Men.

It was pretty intyeresting and they showed the value.

Jimmy Brooks is the fellows name that found the stuff. I live near a huge lake, and it was frozen when the meteorite exploded above it. There was no snow on the ice, so the next day jimmy took his plane up and located enough of the stuff to ensure he would never have to work again. When the news broke about the value of the stuff a week or so later, it was like the gold rush of 98 all over again. People came by the droves looking to get rich.

A few years back a meteor hit here locally. Right in the roof of a guys trailer house.

Shortly after that I received a call from a fellow wanting to search for them.

If finding any he would pay a % of the value.

He never showed up. SCAM!

I thought I saw a flare in the sky last night falling , drove over to where I thought it would have been but no one was around that area , maybe it was a meteor.

They pass through our atmosphere every day, but most burn up.

Some people theorize that the best old Sheffield England ore, that their steel was made from,
was from an ancient buried meteorite.

I have found two in my life, both in AZ. Maybe I should say picked up two. The first one I found a small one and then saw a bigger one. I kept up grading until I had one that I would guess is two lbs. The second was about a pound and I gave it to a friend of mine that was a rock hound.
I will sell the one I have left for $1,000,000. Let me know if you are coming to get it so I can find it for sure. It may weigh three pounds, I have never put it on a scale.

Last night somewhere around 8pm my wife and I were sitting on the couch and we both saw a bright flash of white light, she asked if I saw that and what could it be? No power lines that way, no lightening on a clear cold night. I couldn’t explain it until I heard about the meteorite from a guy at work today. We are in NW Ohio. Strange from something the size a a grape nut

Yup it was a meteorite last night. Supposedly it hit as hard as a 2.0 earthquake as it registered on the rictor scale

I saw the flash last night and wondered what that was.

Meteorites are basically iron ore based. Their heavy in comparison to other rocks the same size.

That was a good show. I think I saw every episode. They showed how the meteor would spread out as it hit the ground.

I watched every one also. Couldnt get enough of it.lol

One interesting point the show made is when they would cut the meteorite,buff it and look at it under a microscope. No 2 are the same.

It was all over FB by friends and relatives down state with video and pictures, some saying it landed by lake St Clair. Its not on craigs list yet, probably still cooling off.

THEY FOUND SOME

My dad lives a few miles south of me. Called me and said he had just seen awesome lightening and the loudest thunder in his life. It was snowing. I heard it but didn’t see the flash.
