I just figured that if you smoke a pack a day you spend 6.10 on average. you've already save 366.00$. Now say that you quit for a year you would save 2,226. And for ten years you would save 22,265 dollars! Keep it up and don't smoke!

I quit cigarettes about 15-20 years ago. It's hard to say exactly when. It took me about two years on continual fighting to finally get completely free of them. I can't tell you how many packs of cigarettes I threw away with only two three smoked out of the pack - more than 100 for sure.

The only thing I notice is that it seems like I was a happier person back when I was smoking. Back then, when things got stressful I could relax and enjoy a smoke and realize that the so-called problems weren't really problems. It just made life much more care-free and enjoyable. When I quit smoking there was a constant tension and stress of fighting the nicotine addiction. It seems that state of constant stress and tension has never left me even after all of these years.

Lately I've been wondering if quitting smoking was worth it. Now it seems like I have a less happy life and it will just take me longer to die. It's true I'm not wasting money on tobacco and increased insurance rates. And, I don't go around with stinky clothes anymore. But I'm not so sure those costs weren't worth the enjoyment of life and ability to relax and not take things so seriously. Sometimes I wish I could get back my "don't give a crap" attitude and just go have some fun.

Thats another side effect. I drink less as its when i have a drink I tend to want a smoke to go with it. More so when one is around people that smoke. So the brewery is probably going to lay of a person or two because of me, but that can't be helped.

Keep up the good work!! I quit almost 4 yrs ago. Smoked for 35 yrs. I now have COPD for my stupidity. Not too bad yet but my doc says it'll only get worse and never better.

Do yourself a favor, toss the smokes you have in the truck and house away. Less temptations!!

Kart you may want to get that book as well as it has a chapter or two about just what you said there that may help you, because you are still a smoker. Even though you don't light them up

that book gets pretty good reviews. I may see if my library can lend me a copy. Sounds interesting.

I threw the crumpled pack out the window of my car for the last time December 21, 1990. I don't know how many times I had quit b4 but could not stay quit. I did it cold turkey also.
Hang in there you are now past the typical habit time frame. Every person is different but the nicotine withdrawl for me was pretty intense. I also was doing a lot of exercise at the time and found that intensified the withdrawl affects. Sure glad I don't need to smoke anymore.

Bryce

Well seeing that I don't need that book anymore, if anyone here wants it, PM me your address and I'll stick it in the post next week. But please pass it one when you are done smoking.

I quit some years ago and it was one of the toughest things I ever did. I did not quit for my health, I quit when I realized that it owned me. The lack of nicotine made me an angry man for bout a year and my temper was suspect for about two but I got over it. I am my own man again and happy. The only lasting side effect I can see is I do have less tolerance for concentrated stupid. My goal was to be able to stay quit even if those around me smoked and I hit that mark. I am not deceived though I know if I smoke just one I might as well buy a boxcar of them cause I will need them. Stay the course friend it gets easier each day I am glad that I quit and am proud to be master of my will once again. "Kart 29" I wondered that same thing for a while till I remembered that nicotine is a drug that made me not care and maybe that wasn't such a good thing for me.
