I visited with a fella from CO that stated that since CO legalized weed, every dirtbag in the country has moved to CO.
Not every weed smoker is a dirtbag, but most dirtbags smoke weed.

Why does it have to be smoked to be effective? Why can't the "medical" value of it be extracted, put in a pill form, and then prescribed as any other drug is?

The weed that is out there now is leaps and bounds ahead of the weed back in the 70's through 2012. An amount the size of a pencil eraser has so much more THC and the weed is much more detectable in trace amounts. Most of our multiple victim homicides are over weed. They want to steal the weed and the cash and shoot anyone that is a witness. This new stuff they are growing smells like skunk weed and it doesn't take much to detect it either.

Wow! Guess I am ignorant to violence associated with weed. I have never seen it and let's just say I ran in some pretty shady circles in my late teens and early 20's. It was always pretty widely known that if you want the good weed you don't generally look in the bad part of town.

What nobody here has brought up, is why CBD oil made from Cannabis . not Hemp, but Cannabis; is illegal under Federal Law ? It's the THC that causes the high, not the CBD. They are using CBD oil for Gran Mal Seizures , and in many cases it works better than regular Anti Epileptic Drugs. Now, I recently read that CBD oil is being used to treat Osteoporosis. The traditional drugs for Osteoporosis, are a class of drugs called "Bisphosphates" That class of LEGAL Medicine, can cause Osteonecrosis of the jaw. I don't know what planet some of you are from but marijuana has been readily available during my lifetime and I'm 65.

I didn't read all of the responses, but if the law is for MEDICAL marijuana, then it is no different as far as I'm concerned as any other medicine that is prescribed by a doctor whether it be an antibiotic, a pain killer, a blood pressure medicine, or anything else that requires a prescription, and should not be singled out. You should not have to be forced to make a choice between your health and your constitutional rights.

That's true. For instance, if I go to CO elk hunting and decide to buy some pot there because it's legal, I still can't bring it into MN where I live since it's not legal in MN.

There's no doubt that some heroin users are abusers of alcohol as well as pot. But, some aren't. The point is, we already have alcohol. Do we need another drug to help the make the step to bigger drugs? Now we're hearing about the opioid epidemic, another gateway drug?

I think it's a good bet there are a LOT of heroin users that never smoked pot. They went to a doctor with a bad back or some other pain and ended up addicted to pills, and then heroin because it was cheaper and easier to get than the pills.
