Ru2hunt OP trapper R Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 94 Alabama	I have some DP's set out for coon and this is the first year i have used golf balls on the openings! I caught a opossum the other day in one and noticed the white golf ball was missing? I looked all around and could not find it! I drove up the road on atv and seen something white up in the woods and sure enough....it was the golf ball about 60 yards in the woods! This morning had another DP that something took the ball and never did find it! Anyone have any experience with something like this happening? Guess I need to put a few cameras up but thought i would ask here?

M.Magis trapper M Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 2,701 S.E. Ohio	Critters will take the golf balls without bait or lure just as well. 30 years ago my cousin and I would hit balls into the field. To this day I still find them where they get kicked out of the dirt by equipment and then carried out of the field by either coon or coyote I assume. Same thing with empty drink bottles. Animals pick them from the side of the road and leave them chewed up around the farm.

Coon could reach the ball and pull it out of the hole and roll it all over the place. I never did see any sign that a coon left with the ball, but have seen where a coyote walked buy and picked it up. They usually only carry it off a short distance before setting it down,but have had a few that I’ve never found !

Lol Its always amazed me at how some animals will avoid things like the plague and others cant resist but to check it out! How can you ever get bored trapping or with the outdoors....always something to learn or see for the first time!

Interesting...it might explain my finding a few way back in the woods and far from any houses where no one could possibly hit a ball without it being stopped short by all of the trees and brush. In another instance I have found small piles (10 to 20 balls) of them by muskrat runs in ponds on a golf course as if muskrats or coons perhaps collected them. I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
