Has anybody heard something that I haven’t? I’m thinking good northwestern cats averaging around 400. And when is the first auction supposed to be in Canada?

The first international wild fur auction is at FHA in North .Bay, Ontario. Tuesday January 9.

I'm quite sure that the bulk of the bobcats they are offering are held over from last season.

The action in the country starts at Mountain Home, Idaho on January 20. From there it progresses through the usual schedule of trappers sales, ending the end of March in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

The only way to average $400 today is to sell one cat at $400.

Most of the western buyers are at a $500 basis and down from there.
Females and short cats (under 34") are at under $125.

Things may heat up after Tuesday and then after the first tag day in Nevada. But Blackfoot will be the first chest thumping, until then, sit back and listen.

I just looked at the FHA catalog and there aren't any lynxcats (bobcats) listed. Lynx are listed along with all the other wild fur species but no bobcats.

Guess we will have to wait a couple of weeks until after the ITA sale.

In past years, the cat market has picked up steam after the Colorado and Utah sales the first part of February.
