I'm sure there is execptions but I think the only hind foot catches I've had on canines have been females. I think it's how they posture to urinate on the lure. I'd be interested to hear if that's a female

The two back foot catches I had last year were both female. I'm sure reddawg will let us know what his was.

Funny, since that post I've had two more . Foxes here aren't working the dirt holes like they were earlier . I think it's because their minds are not on food. But rather making little foxes .BTW all male.

Trapstickman does also as he demonstrates your method of dispatching the ornery critters.

Same with coon. I can't remember ever having a coon chew on a caught hind foot.

Only had one hind foot catch last season and it was a female coyote.

Front foot, back foot, ALL 4 feet I don't care as long as it is waiting for me in the trap.

Of the 50 or so coyotes I'd caught before this last year all were front foot caught. This last year I had 4 back foot coyotes. 3 on a new lure I used. Makes me wonder if the new lure was causing a urinating response instead of the coyote try to dig it up to eat or roll on..??

Sorry to take So long to respond.

Here is my normal wolverine foothold setup. Get the bait high enough to force them to stand but not high enough to make them climb. This way, only their back feet are on the ground.

I can only remember catching a Wolverine by 2 feet twice in my career.
I did catch a cannibal Link by three feet a few years ago.

I don't see that set up excluding a front foot catch altogether.
