I have recently been bitten by the trap collecting bug and I found a #5 newhouse with a Kenwood pan coming up on an auction. Would you please share any information with me that you know about this trap and what I should expect to pay for it. it does appear to have the correct chain on it. Does it have machine springs or trip hammer?

Are you driving to the auction so you can see the trap in person or are you just working off pictures?

I am going to say they are machined, working with a single picture and it is kind of dark. The auction is next weekend and it is 3 hours from me, so I am not going to be able to (run) over and see it. I wish I could

Without better pictures how can you know what to bid?
For a large purchase like that you need to see it up close, there's a couple things to look for but with one crappy photo it's a real gamble on your part.

I will be able to see it in person next Sunday. That's when the auction is. the only pictures of it is actually on the sale bill. I to wish it was better. I email the auctioned to see if he can take some more pictures, but nothing yet.
