Does anyone have a picture of the Milke Pattern traps?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Thanks Steve, I was reading a Fur Fish Game from the early 1950's where E. J. Dailey mentioned that pan that was used for making the water hole set for fox and was curious what it looked like. He called it the Milke pattern traps.

I wonder what the thought process was for off setting the pan like that?

Not sure if the pan was to be set to the close side or the far side. I am guessing the far side.

I never heard of a water hole set for fox. All I have ever used with success for fox is a dirt hole set. What is a water hole set?

Pat, you have to buy some of my old books and study up a bit! Trap placed in water with a cut piece of sod on the pan to offer a dry spot to step. Bait placed out beyond the trap. Fox were considered almost uncatchable dry back when.

I used that set for mink when I was a kid. I used the sod and put a bullhead on a stick out in the water. Racoons stole the bullheads on most of the sets. Only caught a couple mink, but I did catch my very first fox (by accident) that way.
Anyway, that don't explain why anyone would make a pan that is offset like the one above. Got to be a reason. What's your old trapping book say about that one Jim.
