Does anyone know how to convert tons to cubic yards of coverage. Looking at a 12" size.

Some stone places have an online calculator or can tell you if you know the size of the stone
you are using.

Did a bunch of landscape stone replacement last year and some raised bed gardens, the suppliers usually have great coverage info related to the weight (cost).

Putting a bid together for a condo association. They have a muskrat problem, geese problem, and they are losing their pond to erosion.

I know I can fix the erosion problem with some fabric and rip rap. Going with a larger rip rap should cut back on the geese problems.

I don't think the rip rap will improve the muskrat situation much if any. Probably always need a trapping program in the Spring.

Rip rap doesn't translate very well from a cubic yard to coverage on the side slope of an pond. Not a small job, don't want to come up short.

That size stone is very heavy per unit and adds up quickly per ton needed. Lots of hand work with that size stone with regards to uniformity of coverage. To attempt to maximize coverage and protection.

Thorough coverage is very key with regards to discouraging rat inhabitation and continuing occupation. We have done many golf courses, country clubs and large private estates that have implemented rip rap methods. They all still get rat occupation. Key point, is if they have tributaries feeding the body of water or run off areas leading down into other bodies of water migration will continue.

The geese and ducks will just fly in regardless as long as there is grazing opportunities adjacent to the water. It will discourage easy walk-ins to a degree but they will adapt.

Yes you will need to do some maintenance rat trapping over the years.

I don't know if this will help but we grout are riprap on some jobs especially at the bottom of what we call beaver slides

And it looks good if u have the time to do it

1 cubic yard will do about 20-30 square feet of coverage.

As I understand it, 1 yard = roughly 1 ton.
