I was at my local furbuyer's place this morning and he pulled out a couple unique traps. Well, unique to me. This one is a 1.5 Herters jump trap. I never knew they made a jump.

That is interesting. I never knew that either. I would like to here some history on it. Someone will chime in.

I have a few herters. Longs and a couple jumps I'm using on my floats. The one pictured I used a few times but was so unique to me that it became a wall hanger.
Paul I'm not attached to this trap, if you'd like to add it to your collection send me a pm. I'm sure we could work something out. whistle grin

Edit-I guess the one in my pictures is really a single coil rather than a jump...

After looking at Wiss Miss's website, I see they're worth about 7.50 each.

That is what I have them valued at to sell. However, I've had them for sale for a couple of years and there has been no interest. So perhaps my price is too high.

The trap in Paul's picture is a true jump trap, aka an under spring trap.

Wylee's trap is a coil spring trap. Though I know some older trappers call it a jump trap.

Andreski&parr's first book list the 1 1/2 Herters jump in excellent condition at $15.00. The also made a # 1 jump (single under spring) with the same value.

I hear 7.50. Not sure if that's at me but sounds like a bottle of lure.

Almost all the Herter's traps that I have seen, Have a H~75 or 76 or whatever that's for the year of manufacture, and also the word Japan, for country of manufacture, stamped on the bottom. Good Luck

I agree with that on the long spring and coil spring traps.

Have you seen such markings on the jump (under spring) traps? If so, where?

I have a dozen of the # 1 1/2 Herters jumps like the one in Pauls picture and have yet to find that marking on any of them.
