I cleaned it up a bit and got some better pics. Just wondering how old it may be and worth. I don't want to sell it just curious. Off anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Only marks other than the pan are the 3 notches in the frame. I assume a trapper done that.

Thanks, Steve

Made by Animal Trap Company. So made some time after 1925. Might even be as new as the 1980s.

Are you asking about the swivel that attaches the chain to the trap? If so, I would say yes it is original in my opinion.

Those notches on the bottom piece are not even worth mentioning, in my opinion. Not going to affect the value at all.

When did they stop using that type chain?

It looks to me like there are 2, maybe 3 different types of chain on that trap.

I agree Wissmiss. some of it looks like 4 1/2 chain. rounded holes in the chain instead of coming to a point.

Steve C 123 Thats a nice trap
Your trap most likely left the factory with a kinkless welded chain, somewhere along the line someone added to or changed that chain, thats a very nice drag you have there and it looks like a Mike Ayers dog knot stake if Iam not mistaken.

Dont sell your trap, it might be worth a fair buck one day. Ide like to see better pictures of that drag.

I looked again at the chain and from trap to stake it is smaller than the chain from stake to drag.

Mink, I will get a better pic of the drag. Thanks for eveones replies. I don't really care if it is worth much I just like the looks of it.
Is there any other way to date the trap itself?

Thanks, Steve

The flat link chain suggests sometime before 1930 but the pan stamp is after that time.
40s 50s 60s take your pick
The frame and the rivet being pressed in shows older, 1930s

I dont know for sure about the stake but Iam guessing they where not on the market till the 50s or 60s
