Can anyone help identify these two jump traps? The first reads 1
Pat April 26 or 28, 1859. It appears to be a cast pan with an odd shape and different style lettering and trap has a twist link style chain. I have found that is a Blake and lamb patent date but any other info is appreciated.

The second is a jump that reads diamond h-22 Norwich wire works. Everything I have found about the trap pan shows it should be a double long spring number 2 size trap. The pan on this trap does not appear to have ever been tampered with. My original thoughts were someone may have put this pan on a jump trap that was laying around but confused why this pan would have been used.

Thanks for any info

Would it be possible to get a picture of the entire trap (s), including the chain and pan attachment point. Sometimes it is helpful to see the entire package.

I agree that the H22 should be a long spring trap, at least that is the way it is listed in the literature. But anything is possible - especially if the factory had an extra pan laying around.

More pictures of the "diamond" ? Hard to tell if pan was originally put on this trap or not.

Decent little early BLCo jump but chain definitely not original. Chain is much too heavy for that trap and it would be side mounted if original. The Diamond pan was not on that trap when it left the factory.

Your first trap does appear to be a Blake and Lamb but I am not really a B&L collector.

The second trap is an ATC, Oneida Jump. In the mid 1930's Animal Trap Company of America, after buying out several other trap companies had lots of trap parts in stock from the different brands of traps that they did not plan to continue production of. In an effort to get rid of the parts they assembled them in what ever fashion they could to make usable traps and they were sold as Mystery traps through F.C. Taylor. That is one possibility. But, someone may have just swapped it out to make the trap usable after the pan was lost. The Triumph H-22 is a fairly rare trap, the H standing for high grip jaws. They were double jaws like the more common #22.
