Just got a trap as a Christmas present. It is a Victor number 4, has a v cut into the pan. The pan reads "Oneida Victor, animal trap co. Lititz pa. Pat. 9-26-11, made in USA. Also has a number 4 stamped in the middle. It is in basically brand new shape, still shiny metal, just about zero rust.. Also has a couple of markings stamped into the jaws, looks like two parallel lines on one jaw, and a line on the other. Jaws are also slightly beveled on the sides where the jaws come together.

Cool trap, was wondering if it had any collector value? Pretty run of the mill, but you never know!

Springs are super strong.

Zero collector value, in my opinion.

If you keep it in original condition - no dip, no dye, no mods - then maybe 25 years from now it will have some collector value.

That trap was made some time after 1925, when Animal Trap Company started making traps in Lititz, PA. It could be as new as the early 1990s.

The patent date has nothing to do with when the trap was made. It refers to a feature on the trap.

As far as value - probably about $15.00.

Dont mean to downplay your enthusiasm, just telling you how it is. smile

Lol, come on now, id rather honesty over having smoke blown up my backside! And my enthusiasm for things has little to do with their monetary value!

I admired it, and that's why why they gave it to me, andi think it is a pretty cool trap. I have two dozen rusty ones that I can't seem to give away, but being as this one is is new condition, I think it shall have a place on the wall beside the 114s and 14s!

Thanks wissmiss, as always!

It sounds like they have tapering jaws. If so I'm guessing it is older Animal Trap Co. trap.
