We have a three thousand square foot cottage here on the bay that we look after. I have had my crew go over the place twice with steel wool, metal flashing...everything possible to seal up any holes letting the mice in. No affect. Beginning of the year, I trapped thirty mice before the customer came up, with traditional mouse traps.
We have a pest control guy who keeps the poison traps filled, and the mice keep emptying them. The customers cat killed at least 5 a week, all summer.
So now that the customer is gone, I had one of my guys make up five "mickey swim meet" peanut butter buckets, with antifreeze in the bottom.
The first night I killed 47, in her main cottage, and the rental cottage on the same island.
There were no mice in the place two years ago.
Now, we figure we are back to five a week...
The bucket traps are working awesome! Wish I could find where they were coming in!

Well, this is a huge island,...big enough to support at least two Fisher...(wink)
Anyway, lots of nice to try and get in anywhere possible. We have surveyed branches overhanging the place, electrical wire holes...the issue is, it is a nightmare of a place to check. The beams are scribed to the rock in places, it is all wood, and the roof is rough split cedar shakes...just a cluster of gaps ....not to mention a huge stone fireplace...

Put a match to it that will get rid of the mice, then get the insurance to build a new modern airtight.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
