When fleshing coon i find that the i am always cutting hole in the thin bell with my post fleshing knife how should I go about fixing this problem.

Make sure you have all the mud and burrs cleaned out of the fur and lighten up on the pressure when scraping the belly so you don't catch the teats or belly button areas.

The Belly on most Animals are always a slow going so you don't have that problem . But Flatset said it all . But you could have your post fleshing knife on the wrong Angel see if this might help

Be very careful when fleshing the bellies of sows. If they raised a litter they will tear quite easily at the teats. Use the dull side of the knife and not much pressure. The more you do the better you will get at it. Dont give up!

perhaps, take a little more time with your trouble areas till you get better. speed will come with experience.

I have been using a one handed scraper on the belly.I can dodge around any little anatomical obstacles that might be there.

I have done hundreds and hundreds still don't feel like I'm fast at it but they look good when they are done.Just take your time and the mistakes will lessen. Later Longear
