Mike,
That is a hard trap to find, especially with a readable pan as most pan reads on the Union Hardware traps are pretty well shot. I can not decipher a numeral on the pan after the No. Can you measure the jaw spread on it inside to inside. That riveted connector that comes off the swivel to the first link of the chain is right as well as the chain is right for Union Hardware traps. It s a shame that link had been cut and it is missing the ring. The #0s have went crazy over the past decade especially the rare ones in nice condition. The Union Hardware traps were made back in the 1870's. and only for a very short period of time. If its measurements do qualify it as a #0, which the picture does appear to show it to be. It should be in the $450 range give or take, and to a serious #0 collector possibly quite a bit higher. Very nice trap, and Thanks for posting the pictures.

Looks good Mike. Measure the top of the spring from the outside of the eye back to the bend and see if it is 4 inches. Your friend found a nice trap, which always leads to collecting traps, and Trap Collecting is very addictive. In Fact, "TRAP COLLECTING IS NOT A HOBBY, IT'S A DISEASE".

Looks like a good "user" trap to me.
Where did you say that you trapped again?
As mentioned above, collecting is a disease!
