I located a #5 newhouse and wondering if anyone had any info on it.Just joined this site (actually just found out about this site) and trying to do some history on it. Not sure if its not a replica so how can I tell that? its 34 1/2" long and a value would be great also
Thanks for any advice

Nice looking Newhouse. Definately an original Newhouse, made prior to 1925.

Fair retail value $500.00 to $700.00

If the other spring looks as nice as the one pictured and is stamped the same way it is quite desirable. Canadian marked #5 newhouses are quite desirable. If there is no damage to the trap it should be worth in the 1200-1500 range at high retail. I passed up one that was immaculate (probably the best known example) for 2500.

All you trap collectors that have seen a heck of a lot more traps than I have ever seen, Is the swivel the rite one for that trap? It looks to me like the patina from the trap to the chain is different, I thought that the swivel and chain came off of a ATC trap. Shouldn't that trap have an acorn swivel? I am not trying to offend anyone, I am still learning. Thanks

The swivel looks correct to me. It being a Canadian Model it should be worth over a grand...Nice Find

Leanard,
Everything is right on your trap and like beartrapz said if the other spring stamp is as nice and deep with that large Ontario stamp as the one you have pictured, you have a very nice example of a Canadian #5 Pat Date., and yes easily worth in the $1500 give or take a little range. I think there was one that sold at the Cameron show for around $2500 but it was a beauty from what I heard.
