Well, I finally got my first coyote ever today. After about 3 or 4 weeks. One night, he pooped on the set, didn't get caught, couple nights later he comes again, but I miss him, so I moved the trap back where he stepped before. This morning I had him. It was usuing some Hiawatha Valley, GL40, and some red fox pee.

I got him skinned now (hardest thing I've ever skinned), but now he's all muddy/bloody. What should I do to clean him up? Washing machine/dryer is not an option. I do have some dog shampoo, will that work? Or I've heard dish soap? What do I do, hose him down, then work in the soap and rinse? Cold or hot water? I plan on selling him green. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I do have a couple pics of him. I'll see if I can get them uploaded later tonight.

I have heard of just washing in a bucket of water as best you can.

I wash the worst off with the hose, then just wash in a bucket of water with or without dish soap. Let hang on a nail somewhere dry, a fan will speed things up, over night and fur should be about dry.

I use Zero or Woolite. A capful or two in a tub of cold water, swish around a bit and rinse.

After the fur is dry a going over with a bit of borax (work it into the fur and then shake/comb out) may help a bit.

I wash the carcass real well before I skin out the animal, use your garden hose. After skinning, I wash the hide in a bucket filled with cold water and a little bit of laundry detergent, then rinse with the hose.

I washed mine in a washing machine this year. Could not believe the differance it made even made them flesh faster.I know not many can get away with machine use but try it if you dare.Has nothing to do with not being married any more LOL
