just wondering on how to remove the tail bone on a coon without splitting the tail. I have previously tried to just peel it off like you would skin the rest of the coon but that didn't work out so great lol. right now its just sitting there and i cut the bone off. any suggestions?

I would think you heard that incorrect. I would think they would take off if it isn't split. Maybe I'm wrong but I've never heard that before about not splitting the tail. Maybe one of the fur buyers on here will comment on that one. Good luck

The tails need to be split. Take your knife and split the tail down a couple of inches. Skin out the bone down to where you split it. Take a pair of channel locks and grab the bone at the end. Then use your tail stripper and pull one way with the channel locks and the other way with your stripper and it will come out. If you don't have a tail stripper use two nails. Put one on each side of the bone next to the fur it will work the same way. You have to squeeze the nails together as you pull. Hope this helps.

very interesting lol. so just cut up the underside of the tail about 2 inches and then just skin out the tail as far as i cut it. then just slide two nails up the sides of the bone and pull on the bone while using something to push the nails together and just pull??

I just sold coon to Groenewold and they did not take any thing off. I split the tails with a tail stripper as well. Don't see why they'd take any $ off.
