Set some mole traps yesterday in my yard. I see the shrew's have dug out where I have blocked the run. After setting a trap. I get one once in a while. Is there any one trap that gets the shrew's better than others. I am thinking of changing the trap when I check the trap for the first time.. I know Mole do not like the holes in there runs. I set Steve A. traps.

Regular mouse traps work great on short-tail shrews above ground. Peanut butter + oatmeal is good bait. Mix in a little bacon grease and it's even more attractive to shrews.

If you're really targeting shrews, there's nothing better than pitfall traps. Bury small containers so the open tops are flush with the surface of the ground. 2 liter soda bottles with the tops cut off, large deli containers, small buckets, or similar containers all work. Drift fencing is very helpful to direct the animals to the pitfalls. No bait is needed.
