sounds like a good trap, I like the ability to attach to a roof. They should put a bracket on for remote trap sensor.... (And maybe a lazer beam). Is the model available for sale yet? Other than the roof fastening mechanism, what do you think the benefits are over say a dura poly trap?

Paul,
I know even less about this than you but apparently it was "unveiled" at the Expo and is available for purchase. I don't know if you need to be a NWCOA member or not but I heard the price is going to be around $100.

There have been some pictures posted on Facebook of the trap. It looks like a Tomahawk 108SS that has been raised to accommodate the "drip" pan, and the door has been moved back to make it flush mount. The 4 "holders" appear to accommodate screws/washers or thin tent pegs but won't work with standard trapping stakes and the bait area behind the treadle appears to be covered by a thin metal on the sides and top, but not the back or underneath. Also, the trap is powder coated.
From what was posted, NWCOA receives a portion of each sale so it probably is available to non members as well as members but so far it isn't up on either the Tomahawk or WCS sites.

Mr. Winkelmann,
Congrats again on winning the prototype trap at the WWCOA conference. It was great to see you and I'm sorry we didn't get more time to talk face to face. I thought it was a great meeting and in my opinion you brought up some great points about the Coyote issues our state. As a father of two small children and owner of two dogs it is always a concern in the back of my mind when they are outside. Especially since our neighborhood is surrounded by thousands of acres of woods. This is definitely my favorite conference to attend because I get to sit in and actually learn and participate. Having the meeting at the Kalahari helps too! I get to bring my family along and they have a great time in the water park. Hopefully we can plan something out and get together next year at the conference if not before then.
To answer some of the above questions and comments about the new trap: The trap is not yet available online but you can order it direct now for an introductory price of 99.50. The model number is 1010SS. We have not completed a bill of material and time study on it yet to determine the final price but my best guess based on other traps is that it will be around 130.00. The "waste tray" is made from galvanized sheet metal, held in with roll hooks and is removable for cleaning. For each one sold NWCOA will get 5% of our gross sales price. All input for designing the trap came directly from NWCOA members. There were many ideas for extra features but the three most common features desired were a removable clean out, roof attachment and protected bait area. The trap was unveiled at the NWCOA annual meeting earlier this month and it was well received. With more input and NWCOA approval it can definitely be modified in the future. Different versions of the trap may also be available with rear sliding doors or two trap doors.

It sure seems so this week! High of 0 today and tomorrow's high is predicted to be -6. I guess that Groundhog knows his weather. A note for the prototype trap you received is that the bottom tray has a flaw. On the prototype version the roll hooks on the sides of the trap are pretty much worthless because they do not loosen easy enough without putting too much effort in it and possibly damaging the tray. The roll hooks on the ends of the trap are sufficient to hold the tray in the trap and can be easily loosened with a pliers. The roll hooks on the sides of the trap can be cut off and discarded.

Thanks again Kyle. Charles Holt sent my son an E-mail ( which he forwarded to me ) explaining more about the cage. I appreciate all
the help and if it ever gets warm enough to set a cage, I will try to keep everyone informed of my findings. What you don't have it on a Roof or Deck yet Paul... Wow, talk about slipping...Haha!
