Are their stretcher size recommendations the same?

What are the differences in the two? Specifically, with regards to coon.

I don't know about NAFA but I have FHA's pelt handling book and board size for coon is 3" wide at 2", 5" wide at 6", 61/2" at 12", 7" wide at 24", 71/4" at 36", and 71/2" at 48". Board length 48"

America has BO!!!!

I found the FHA's dimentions online, but I can't find them for NAFA. That is why I'm wondering if they are the same.

Not trying to hijack your thread but,I also need the NAFA board sizes for coon, cat, yote, and otter. I have FHA also but, can't seem to get my hands on NAFA's. Man, is it a big secret or what? Thank's Brad

ok the easiest way to get NAFA patterns is call them and request their "pelt handling manual" try 608-205-9200 this is the wisc. office , if they can't get you one they can tell you who to contact . it may cost you 3 or 4 dollars but is well worth it . or you could go to "www.nafa.ca/" go into wild fur seller section and click contacts and you can email them about the manual. here are the specs. from my book they have 4 board sizes , i assume and may be wrong that maine coons would go on "northern u.s. heavy" 48-54" long , 5 1/2- 6""@11" down off nose 7 1/2"-8" wide @30" ,8" wide @base.... "central semi heavy"= 48-54" long , 5"@11" ,6 1/2"@30" ,7"@base .. hope this helps . LEE

one thing i forgot , the main reason i put fur up, and on nafa patterns , fha would be fine also. is that it gives you options !!! i still sell to groeny and local guys alot BUT if you don't like the prices or want to try getting more it's ready to ship to auction. if you go to your local buyer w/500 thawed coon or beaver and you don't like the price you now have a prob.. , just my 2 cents

I use the NAFA dimentions for my yotes. They are narrower than others by a couple inches.

Thanks, Bushmaster and Buzzsaw. That is exactly the info I was looking for. Buzzsaw, do you catch 500 coon a year? If so, man would I like to sit and have a few beers with you.

GanderClub , I WISH! no i don't catch 500 coon a year , most years i only catch half that many animals total IF i have a good year. but, i did see 2 guys pull up to the fur buyer last spring with about 350 unthawed beaver hides , they were spring beaver and were chewed pretty bad {at least the couple that i saw} they didn't like the price offered at all. well then what do you do now . you can't refreeze that many at once and i think it would take quite awhile even with say 4 guys fleshing and nailing. i would say they would start spoiling before they were done. however , if they were stetched and dried they had alot more options . those 2 were going to run to some other dealers and see if they could get their price.
