You have a good eye! The Bell, Safari and some Pioneer traps were made in Taiwan in the factory that simultaneously made Northwoods traps and currently makes Bridger traps. Bell traps and Safari traps were made in fairly small numbers and some are collectible, especially those in new condition like the one you picture. A few are quite scarce and bring decent prices.

I would add one caution to this information. It is always possible that one or a few models of a brand were made by some other factory. I have NOT been able to verify that larger Safari bodygrips, which are shaped differently than any other I have seen, were made in Taiwan. An example of this confusion follows.Last spring(2014) we found that the Taiwan factory referred to earlier had an early contract for and made Duke traps(currently made in Korea). The same day that I found this information, we were at a spring get together of trap collectors in Wisconsin and found early Duke traps on the wall marked Made in Taiwan!!!

Good information Jim. I will add to that; The FIRST batch of Dukes were not marked at all. As a result they were held up in Customs and a steel band was placed through the jaws of each trap stating the country of manufacture. This met the import requirement and the traps were then allowed into the country. I have a couple brand new ones that still have the steel band around the jaws.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Never thought I would hear of a collectable DUKE!
