Yes, thanks. I am not a collector so will not have input, but enjoy looking and learning.

All the collectable traps don't have to be high dollar. There are plenty of Triumph traps in all kinds of configurations
around. I think they were made between 1913 and 1931, so any one you look at is 80+yrs old.

I agree with Ol' Smoke. I know people who collect all type of traps even new ones. I feel that all traps have there own history about them. Please post photos and tell us about your traps. This site will be really interesting to see what people have hanging around there homes. Greg

And collector traps come in all sizes. The # 1 single long is one of the most common traps out there. There were companies that is the only trap they made.

In addition to Victor, B&L, Triumph and Newhouse, here are some other brands of -# 1 - Champion, Mascot, StaKawt, True Value, Diamond, Economy, Hawley & Norton, Sargent, Crescent, Herters, to name a few. Most of them are not extremely valueable, so that is a good place to start a collection.

So the next time you are at a trapping convention or an auction and you see a pile of "rusty old rat traps" don't assume they are all Victors, dig tthrough the pile and see if there are any hidden treasures?

What is so awesome about this new site is that it can get others interested in collecting even if they aren't high dollar. As Nancy said there are many "little collectors" laying in some of the rusted piles, and it is so fun,and trappers can have something to do & look for in off season. There are some VERY knowledgeable guys on here who are so good about answering questions until you do invest in good books like Gerstell's The Steel Trap in North America and Tom Parr & Blaise Andreski's The Trap Collectors Guide. Love the site and thank you Paul for allowing.
