In the Midwest, or at least in Wisconsin, this has been the most brutal winter and spring in 30 years. ( Despite Global Warming )

I had expected this unusual weather to take a considerable toll on our pests and wildlife, and hence on our business.

It certainly seems that is not the case. I want to know if anyone else is getting more or less than normal real client calls.

I am perfectly aware that years in business and what kind of advertising we all do, can affect the amount of real client calls.

And, I'm sure you all know that the results of this poll can result in an article in WCT magazine, if I have enough results.

By the way, I am learning from my returning customers that rest of the nation was not so rosy this year either.

Mildest winter in about 20 yrs over here, loads of rat and mouse work ,and a lot of insects coming early, we had young rabbits in dec,
how can I get hold of some copies of WCT mag, it would be interesting to read and see how things are done over there.

Hey Eric, take care of this guy. He wants copies and is working harder than anyone over here.

EVERYONE I've talked to about last winter, which is probably around 40 people, has said it was the worst winter they've ever experienced. Even some old farmers said last winter was really bad.

In terms of animals, the only thing I've noticed a difference in is turkeys. Not sure why it's just turkeys, but I figure they were the coyotes main meals. Any smaller animal would have food stored up, and bigger animals like deer could dig through the snow or eat browse and more easily escape coyotes. Probably just my quack theory though. wink I haven't noticed any less groundhogs except in one place. A lawn care customer wanted me to trap some groundhogs under their shed this spring, but since last fall they've disappeared. Don't know if they died or moved on, but they're gone.

We had one unusual cold snap, followed by 3x the normal amount of rain in March (which in western WA is saying a lot). There seem to be fewer moles this Spring.

Wow! That explains why we haven't heard from Vinke in a while. He's probably still treading water.

I thought Vinke moved to the sunny southwest for the winter.

I have been very busy here this year! I think the only effect the extreme cold had on my critters was during the height of the cold in January, I definitely had more calls with squirrels and coons breaking in to get some warmth.

peacekeeper, you're probably right. Normally, this would be the start of spring and Vinke would be back in Washington state. I froze my butt off today by Lake Michigan, but what the heck, it's only May 22nd.

Steve, I think they're still breaking in here to get some warmth.

Why would anyone want to take a survey. Shopping is getting tough....every time I go...you can win $50 by taking a survey. Never took one yet....but 15 minutes can save you 15% on auto insurance.

peacekeeper, that is the one of the worst programs on TV and will probably be cancelled; so why do I keep watching? The recipes?

Snake calls have come earlier. Not a lot of baby calls this year.
