Several times this year I have found places with awesome mink sign and try to set 110's in trails and the mink seem to shy away from these sets. I've caught 1 so far this year in a 110 but that was a bottom edge set. None in trails. It snowed 2 days ago and yesterday I went and checked out this place and it was already plastered in mink tracks and scat. Set 6 110's in trails and nothin this morning....I'm sure I need more than 1 night but still...I haven't had luck all season with 110's in trails...any advice out there? Do they need to be blended in real well with the grass? How should I have the trigger wires? Thanks all for advice. Jeremy

try diff methods and see what ya come up with ... i have caught em with triggers on the bottom, sides, top .... blended and not blended .... ya will connect with em ... just member to place sticks where the jaws make contact with the ground/ice/snow to keep the traps from freezin down ... also ... i like to move the trigger a bit to loosin it up ... this gives the trigger sum play so the mink will push the trigger out of the way rather than slinkin thru it .... do what ya think is best ... if ya feel more confident in a well blended set than by all means do so .... confidence has a major role in mink trappin !! just make sure ya set up so ya traps will be workin when the mink make a return visit !! good luck to ya !

I like to loop the triggers on my 110's. But I am in the same boat. I have several 110's out in trails also and so far slow go, But I think patients is going to be the key. The main reason I set so many trails this year is so I still have something in oporation if a non target catch is made. Our water season just opened I'll let you know how it goes.

here is what i do with all my 110's for mink. I just make natural cubbies in logs. this is an old boom log that has a big hole in it i put the 110 on one side of the hole and a #1 or 1.5 on the other and put salmon or herring about 2/3 down the hole from the coni. Good Luck.

Guess I just needed a little patience...had a big ole buck mink in one of the 6 110's this morning. Will try to get a pic on here after work. Thanks for the help all.

Thanks Gary...well I slipped down there quick tonight after work to reset the trap that had the mink in it this morning and you won't believe this...another big ole buck in a 110 trail set about 15 yds from where I had the one this morning! LOL...a honeyhole...the one tonight came through evidently right after I checked that trap this morning cause he was pretty stiff tonight. Will get a pic of them when wife gets home with camera.
