Keep it up guys. I went out and bought a can just now. Been clean of dip since Thursday night. I did it to prove to my roommate that I can carry this unopened can around and not indulge in it. Its tough but getting easier! Keep at it guys Why tempt yourself that way? Hang in there...and get rid of that can!
Eh...wot?

TrappingHardcore, that's where I started. I was 16 and a buddy gave me a pinch. Let me tell you, he's still a friend and we actually work together to this day. That was 17 years ago. I want to punch him in his face this week!!! Let me tell ya, this is MISERABLE trying to quit. Not to mention, my supervisor at work just told me about his father who died of mouth cancer. He said he went to the doctor because his cheek was sore. The doctor said he had about 3 months, and sure enough 3 months later he was being laid to rest. Now, that was an aggressive cancer, but I don't really want to chance it, especially since both my grandfathers have or had cancer from smoking (one passed away many many years ago).
All that said, I am back from the gas station on my dinner break. A giant bag of peppermint twist, and a giant bag of Jolly Ranchers. Who ever mentioned this deserves my gratitude! Thank you! This is helping a lot!

Riverman, Everyone is different. It can be dangerous to carry. When I quit, I carried a can for nearly a year. I guess it was my security blanket.

I never dipped but I did smoke. Started smoking in basic training at Fort Dix, NJ in June of 1965. In the early years I smoked Winston and was smoking close to 2 packs a day. After I got out of the Army I continued to smoke Winton's but did cut back to about a pack a day. Then sometime in the late 80's I switched to Marlboro Lights and reduced my intake to a half a pack a day. Since the early 90's I quit numerous time for periods of up to six months. The downfall was I would bum a smoke from someone and then I could no longer say I went "x" number of days without smoking. On February 21st of this year I quit again. Today makes 40 days without a smoke for me. I do not plan on bumming a smoke this time. From reading this thread it might be harder to quit the dip than to quit cigarette's. I don't think I get angry, but I sure do miss the nicotine. So far I only gained a pound or two.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Just pulled a batch of deer jerky off the dehydrator, I'm chewing on it, but that's it.
