Have 2 coon in a roof space on a log home. Have live traps and cubbies using dry cat food, molasses and fish for bait. First night they knocked one of the cubbies out of the access hole without setting any thing off. Since that have them on camera coming almost to the live traps and then going back to the top of the roof. Temp is about 20 degrees in there most nights. All bait is placed inside prescription bottles with holes in the lids. Any ideas on what to do to get them in the traps. Is it possible the camera is spooking them it is about 6 ft away with infrared flash. Traps have been in there about 2 weeks. Mice aren't shy about running in and out so need to keep any kind of bait in a container. The realtor is very anxious to get them out before they have young ones as they want to put the house on the market. No one living in it now. Wondering if I was to have the contractor fixing things up seal off the outside where the wall and roof come together so they can't get out would make them more likely to go into the traps. although have only seen tracks outside in the snow once since starting to trap them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do not seal them when there inside. You need to
Put the trap where there going In and out if the house.
Block it off so they have no choice but to go In it!
If it's not being lived in and isn't in view of the public
Then I would use a 220 or 160 over the hole. No
Bait!

Can you put traps on the ground out in the yard?

Ditch the camera!

Yes but they haven't been coming out. Been single digit temps here most of Jan and Feb at night outside. Put the camera up there first because I didn't see any tracks outside but contractor working on house said they heard something. Took 3 coon mid to late October so wasn't sure if there were more there. Can take the camera down though now.

Coon seem to be much easier to catch inside an attic when the homeowner traps them inside by sealing up their entry/exit points. They also seem to be much more expensive, keeping the sheetrock finishers in beer money...this was from December, the handyman covered a hole in the roof with plywood. He must have done a fairly good job, the three we took went ballistic on this room. This attic was finished and used for storage, and the Coon were living above the ceiling.
